Report: Giants Told Aaron Rodgers They Want Him to Be QB1 amid Steelers, Vikings Buzz
While the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings are still believed to be in the mix to sign veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers after his release from the New York Jets, it sounds like the New York Giants are making a strong push to add him to the fold.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Giants made it clear to Rodgers that they want him to be their starting quarterback, as they "essentially told him that they want him to be their guy."

Re-Drafting Every Team's Worst Draft Pick of the Century 😡
The Giants are in need of a new signal-caller after moving on from longtime quarterback Daniel Jones during the 2024 season. Backup Tommy DeVito is the only quarterback on the roster at the moment. New York owns the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL draft and could have a shot at selecting one of the top quarterback prospects like Miami's Cam Ward or Colorado's Shedeur Sanders.
The 41-year-old Rodgers is nearing the end of his legendary career. If he lands with the Giants, they would be wise to add a young quarterback who could spend next season learning under the future Hall of Famer. However, New York is still facing competition from Pittsburgh and Minnesota.
ESPN's Kevin Seifert reported on Wednesday that the Vikings "have at least been entertaining the possibility internally" of adding Rodgers. Meanwhile, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the Steelers have extended a contract offer to Rodgers and, like the Giants, are simply waiting for him to make a decision.
Rapoport noted that Rodgers is on vacation in Australia while he ponders his next landing spot. His impending decision has caused free agency to slow to a crawl, as other quarterbacks like Russell Wilson appear to be in a holding pattern until it's known where he will end up.
Perhaps the Giants' aggressive push could accelerate Rodgers' thought process and convince him to join Big Blue.
