Burning Questions That Must Be Answered Before WWE WrestleMania 41

Graham GSM MatthewsMar 12, 2025

Every twist and turn on the Road to WWE WrestleMania 41 has left fans with more questions than answers, which has effectively made Raw and SmackDown must-see television week after week.

While the card is far from complete, the seeds have been planted for a majority of the marquee matches on both Night 1 and Night 2. Now it's up to WWE to make the build for each bout as compelling as possible.

The Road to WrestleMania is already off to a strong start, but several questions still must be answered before The Show of Shows in Las Vegas on April 19-20.

It remains to be seen whether Jey Uso and Gunther can add another layer of intrigue to their storyline as well as what the dynamic is supposed to be in the fledgling feud between Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton.

Those situations may have simple solutions, but there are uncertain aspects to a number of other angles that have yet to be addressed. Those lingering mysteries will be what make this year's ever-changing Road to WrestleMania all the more fun to follow.

Why Did John Cena Sell His Soul?

1 of 5

WWE closed out Elimination Chamber on March 1 with one of the best cliffhangers in company history when John Cena turned heel for the first time since achieving main event status over 20 years ago.

His newfound alliance with The Rock, along with his brutal betrayal of Cody Rhodes, made for the perfect final shot of the show, and it immediately injected excitement into their now-official Undisputed WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 41.

Cena has yet to explain why exactly he "sold his soul" to Rock but will presumably do so when he returns to Raw on Monday.

Already considered by WWE to be the "greatest of all time," Cena has nothing to gain at this point in his career from forming a villainous duo with The Final Boss. Turning heel could have been his last resort ahead of capturing his record-setting 17th world title at 'Mania, playing into the idea that he's desperate after not winning a singles match at a premium live event in nearly seven years.

Either way, the Cena shocker will need to make sense as the event draws closer to ensure it lives up to its full potential.

Will Cena and The Rock Recruit Another Wrestler to Their Ranks?

2 of 5

The Rock's master plan to outsmart Cody Rhodes by convincing John Cena to join him instead was brilliantly executed at Elimination Chamber, but the best part is that may have only been the beginning of something bigger.

Similar to the unforgettable arrival of the New World Order in WCW almost 30 years ago—an iconic angle to which Cena's turn to the dark has constantly been compared since it happened—a third Superstar could soon align themselves with Cena and Rock in time for the Undisputed WWE Championship match at WrestleMania.

The Final Boss doing the throat-slash gesture toward Cena at Chamber is bound to ultimately amount to nothing, but there is the slightest chance it was designed to signal a third wrestler will be recruited to their ranks sooner rather than later.

Logan Paul hinted on Monday's Raw that he would have been more than willing to accept Rock's offer, while a heel turn for an equally beloved star such as Bianca Belair would pack just as much of a punch as Cena's.

The possible reveal could come at 'Mania, but doing so beforehand would only further stack the deck in Cena's favor for his championship clash with Rhodes.

Where Does Bianca Belair Stand with Jade Cargill?

3 of 5

Despite emerging from Elimination Chamber as the number one contender to the Women's World Championship at WrestleMania 41, Bianca Belair's unfinished business with Jade Cargill and Naomi will keep her busy on SmackDown for the foreseeable future.

Naomi admitting to attacking Cargill last Friday sets up what should be a special match between the two of them at The Show of Shows. However, where Belair fits into the picture now isn't entirely clear.

Naomi severing ties with Belair during their heated confrontation last Friday night should lead to them having a match of their own eventually, but The EST of WWE and Cargill have yet to address the status of their team after Naomi stepped up in The Storm's absence.

Cargill could feel she'll fare better on her own, especially if the idea is that she has some resentment toward Belair for not looking into her attack further. Belair revealing she's been in cahoots with Naomi wouldn't be logical at this point, but a heel turn for The EST isn't completely out of the question depending on how the story develops from here.

Will Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga Turn Their Backs on Solo Sikoa?

4 of 5

The dissension among the remaining members of the now-former Bloodline has been gradual yet noticeable, and it's merely a matter of when and not if tensions will boil over between Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.

Sikoa losing whatever power he had left to Roman Reigns in Tribal Combat on Raw's Netflix premiere two months ago resulted in Fatu stealing the singles spotlight and making a name for himself on SmackDown.

Sikoa hasn't been able to measure up to the momentum Fatu has and thus it shouldn't be long before he's betrayed by his Bloodline brethren. Tama Tonga remaining aligned with Fatu could be enough to turn Sikoa babyface, but how he'll endear himself to the audience after being positioned as SmackDown's top heel throughout 2024 is unknown.

Before Sikoa and Fatu wage war at WrestleMania, Fatu must first finish his feud with Braun Strowman, who he's been at odds with since before the Royal Rumble.

Fatu is on the fast track to superstardom and overcoming both Strowman and Sikoa should be his next order of business.

Where Will Paul Heyman's Allegiance Lie?

5 of 5

Paul Heyman's fabled "favor" to CM Punk has been a hot topic of discussion among fans for months since The Best in the World agreed to aid Roman Reigns in WarGames at Survivor Series in November.

The OTC largely disappeared from programming soon after, and there's been little mention of the favor on screen otherwise. With WrestleMania 41 fast approaching, it's safe to assume there will be an imminent update on what exactly it will be.

Punk's direction for WrestleMania was all but confirmed on Monday's Raw when Reigns cost him a steel cage match win against Seth Rollins and subsequently attacked him after catching him in an embrace with his advocate, Heyman.

The stage has been set for a Triple Threat at 'Mania between the three headliners, but the biggest story heading into it will be where Heyman's allegiance lies. He's been alongside Reigns for the past five years but has a well-documented history with Punk as well.

Even if the favor turns out to be Heyman betraying Reigns for Punk, it should become clear in the coming weeks how it will factor into their respective roads to WrestleMania and if Rollins can avoid getting lost in the shuffle.
