Report: Evan Engram to Visit Broncos After Jaguars Cut TE from Contract in Free Agency

Scott PolacekMar 10, 2025

Evan Engram's search for his next team reportedly took him to Denver on Monday.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the free-agent tight end met with the Denver Broncos ahead of the start of free agency Monday. This comes after the Jacksonville Jaguars released Engram on Thursday in a move that Schefter reported generated $5.98 million in cap savings for the AFC South team even though it assumed a $13.5 million dead money charge.

Engram is coming off a disappointing 2024 season when shoulder issues limited him to just nine games.

However, he was a Pro Bowler in 2023 with 114 catches for 963 yards and four touchdowns after he helped lead the Jaguars to the playoffs in his first season with the team in 2022 with 73 catches for 766 yards and four touchdowns.

The Ole Miss product was one of the best pass-catching tight ends in the league at times during his three seasons with the Jaguars and will look to return to that form with the Broncos or whichever team he joins this offseason.

The 2017 first-round pick also spent his first five seasons with the New York Giants during a span that saw him post a career-best six touchdown catches as a rookie and also make the Pro Bowl during the 2020 campaign.

Engram, 30, would give Denver another weapon in the aerial attack as it looks to build a contender around Bo Nix.

Putting the second-year quarterback in the best position to succeed is the Broncos' clearest path to sustained success in the coming seasons, and tight end was largely nonexistent in the team's 2024 passing game.

While wide receivers such as Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims Jr. found success with Nix, no tight end had more than Adam Trautman's 188 receiving yards for Denver in 2024. A healthy Engram would surely surpass that production, and it would likely take him just a handful of games to do so.

Even if Denver doesn't sign Engram, don't be surprised if it adds a tight end through free agency or the draft this offseason.
