Report: Evan Engram, Devin Duvernay Released By Jaguars After Christian Kirk Trade

Zach BacharMar 6, 2025

The Jacksonville Jaguars made a flurry of offseason transactions on Thursday.

The Jaguars released tight end Evan Engram, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco. They generated $5.98 million in cap savings and took on a $13.5 million dead money charge with the move (via ESPN's Adam Schefter).

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport also reported that Jacksonville released return specialist Devin Duvernay to clear cap space.

Both moves occurred after the Jaguars traded wide receiver Christian Kirk to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.

Jacksonville also released veteran cornerback Ronald Darby, per Pelissero. The team later parted ways with wide receiver Josh Reynolds to save $4.26 million in cap space, via Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz.

Engram spent the past three seasons with the Jaguars after opening his career with the New York Giants. He thrived during his first two years in Jacksonville, hauling in 187 receptions for 1,729 yards and eight touchdowns across 34 combined games.

The 30-year-old also earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2023.

Engram wasn't as impactful in 2024, recording 365 yards and one score as he was limited to just nine games due to shoulder issues.

As for Duvernay, he was expected to serve as a key contributor on special teams after Jacksonville signed him as a free agent during the 2024 offseason. He received Pro Bowl honors in both 2021 and 2022 as a member of the Baltimore Ravens.

Duvernay didn't live up to expectations during his lone year with the Jaguars, though. After averaging 12.8 yards per punt return throughout the first four seasons of his career, he recorded 8.8 yards per return in Jacksonville.

The Jaguars' roster should look vastly different in 2025 under new general manager James Gladstone, who was hired by the team on Feb. 21 after previously serving as a personnel executive on the Los Angeles Rams.

With Jacksonville attempting to bounce back from a disappointing 4-13 record in 2024, Gladstone made several cost-cutting moves on Thursday.
