WWE Writer Denies Rumor Surrounding John Cena's Heel Turn with The Rock on Cody Rhodes

Former WWE head writer Brian Gewirtz, who is also The Rock's longtime personal writer, denied a rumor surrounding John Cena's heel turn with The Rock at Elimination Chamber after attacking Cody Rhodes (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News).

Gewirtz responded "0 for 2" in response to a rumor from Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer, which stated that Cena was going to turn heel and align with The Rock at WrestleMania 41, when he's set to face Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

The "0 for 2" was referencing another denied rumor, in which Meltzer stated The Rock didn't participate in WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns in April 2023 because there wasn't enough time for him to get into ring shape.

Gewirtz also confirmed what The Rock previously said in September 2023 on the Pat McAfee Show, that in essence, he didn't take part in WrestleMania 39 because of creative differences.

Cena, of course, infamously turned heel at Elimination Chamber after Rhodes emphatically denied the Rock's offer to become his champion.

Cena, The Rock and Travis Scott then launched an attack on Rhodes to end Elimination Chamber. Cena's lone response since then has been a post-event mic drop, while a clearly injured Rhodes provided his thoughts on the matter at Friday's SmackDown.

WrestleMania 41 is set to take place on April 19 and 20 in Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium.
