Flagg has become the favorite in a majority of the individual player of the year races with his dazzling performance since Dec. 31. He opened the year still adjusting to the college level, averaging 16.3 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game with a 42.1 field-goal percentage in his first 12 starts.
The freshman sensation is averaging 21.7 points on 55.1 percent shooting (47.0 percent from three), 6.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game in his last 18 appearances.
Duke has gone 17-1 during that stretch and climbed up to No. 2 in the current Associated Press Top 25 poll.
Harper has a strong individual case for the award, but he could be hurt by what's been an incredibly disappointing season for Rutgers. The 19-year-old leads the team in scoring average (19.1 points per game) and assists (4.0), while shooting 49.0 percent from the field.
Rutgers, which will wrap up the regular season on Sunday against Minnesota, has a 14-16 record and will need to win the Big Ten tournament to make the NCAA tournament.
The biggest threat to Flagg for the Wooden Award will likely be Broome. He leads an Auburn team that has been ranked No. 1 in the AP Top 25 for eight consecutive weeks in scoring (18.0 points per game), rebounds (10.7), assists (3.3) and blocks (2.4).
Broome is one of 11 players in the nation averaging a double-double. His 17 total double-doubles are tied for sixth-most in the nation.
Flagg does have the benefit of a head-to-head win over Broome this season when Duke beat Auburn 84-78 at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Dec. 4. Both players posted double-doubles in the game.
Per ESPN's Joe Lunardi, the Tigers and Blue Devils are currently projected to be the top two overall seeds in the NCAA tournament.
The finalists for the Wooden Award will be announced on April 1, with the winner being announced on April 11.
