Pat McAfee Reveals Fan's Death Threats to His Daughter After WWE Elimination Chamber
WWE commentator Pat McAfee is no stranger to criticism, but a fan took things too far following the Elimination Chamber premium live event this past Saturday.
On Wednesday, McAfee took to his Instagram Story to post a screenshot featuring messages from a fan who crossed the line with death threats aimed not only at him but also at his infant daughter.
"I hope that little brat f--king dies," the fan wrote (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News).
The disturbing messages came after McAfee took offense to fans in Toronto booing the U.S. national anthem before Saturday night's show. He faced immediate backlash online and addressed the situation during Monday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show.
That didn't stop the fan from threatening him, as they also messaged McAfee, "If you want to s--t on free speech, you better be ready to die, you p---y."
For his part, McAfee handled the threatening messages with grace, writing in a caption, "Good morning beautiful people… Standard Wednesday over here… just some random wishing death upon me & my daughter… Hope you all have a great day."
Social media has made it easier than ever for fans to interact with their favorite celebrities, but this is yet another example of the negativity someone can face because of their status as a public figure.
