NFL Insider: Derek Carr 'Unlikely to Garner Any Trade Interest' in Free Agency, Draft
The New Orleans Saints could be in for at least one more year of Derek Carr.
As the Saints look to shed Carr's expensive contract, The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt reported that the quarterback is "unlikely to garner any trade interest at this point," adding that the Saints would get just $1.3 million in relief by cutting Carr before June 1.
While all signs point to another season of Carr on the roster, the Saints could have someone else as their starter in 2025. Rosenblatt noted that bringing back Carr "wouldn't preclude" New Orleans from taking a quarterback in the draft.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
With the No. 9 pick in the NFL draft, the Saints could have a few good options available to them. Teams are reportedly "cooling" on Colorado star quarterback Shedeur Sanders, which could create an avenue to where he's available for New Orleans. If the Saints are insistent upon drafting a quarterback, they could trade up to get Sanders or another quarterback.
Carr had a decent first year in New Orleans, throwing for 3,878 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2023, but he struggled in 2024 with 2,145 passing yards and 15 touchdowns in 10 games. The Saints went 5-5 when Carr was under center.
The veteran is still capable of putting up solid numbers at his best, but his contract makes him a bit of a liability for teams in the market for a quarterback.
