NFL Draft Rumors: Shedeur Sanders Not 'Professional' in Meetings with Teams in Top 10
Teams drafting in the top 10 that are in need of a quarterback did not feel former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders took a "professional approach" to his interview, NFL draft insider Todd McShay said on The McShay Show (7:40 mark).
"The two people that I spoke to were in meetings…Teams in the top 10 drafting that need a quarterback," McShay said. "The two people that I spoke to in these positions, left the meeting feeling like Shedeur Sanders was not overly concerned with what they thought of him. They had a 15-minute meeting with them, and when they were done, they both said in different ways, different words, that they did not feel like Shedeur Sanders cared all that much about what that organization thought of him."
The son of former NFL player and Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, Shedeur was perceived by many as not putting his best foot forward during interviews with teams.
"It wasn't a professional approach. Shedeur Sanders did not take a professional approach to this interview," McShay said. "The other person that I talked to said he wasn't taking it seriously at all."
The 23-year-old is coming off a strong season with the Buffaloes, after throwing for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns while posting a 75.5 quarterback rating.
McShay is not the only insider who has heard concerns about Shedeur's interview demeanor. NFL insider Josina Anderson reported that a quarterbacks coach from a team drafting in the top seven described him as "brash" and "arrogant" during their meeting.
"I'm purposely not naming the team, as not to directly call the team out. I'm just sharing that this coach's personal assessment is the direct opposite from how Sanders came across to many reporters in his press conference with the media at the Combine," Anderson wrote on social media.
The Bleacher Report Scouting Department projects Shedeur to be the No. 2 quarterback selected behind Miami's Cam Ward after two seasons at Colorado. In his first year with the Buffs, he was named the 2024 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for 37 touchdowns and 4,134 yards over 13 games.
Time will tell what effect Shedeur's in-person interviews have had on his draft stock as the 2025 NFL draft is set for April 24-26.
