Report: Travis Hunter Told Team at Combine to Trade Up to No. 1 So 'You Can Get Me'
Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter didn't participate in drills at the NFL Scouting Combine this past weekend, but he reportedly still left a lasting impression on scouts.
The Athletic's Bruce Feldman detailed an instance where Hunter confidently told a team to do what it takes to land him in next month's NFL draft.
"One veteran NFL coach came away a big fan after meeting him in interviews. The two-way star was told in the meeting with that team that he probably wouldn’t be there when it was their turn to pick," Feldman explained. "Hunter smiled back and said, 'You know, if you trade up into the No. 1 spot, then you can get me.'"

Hunter presents a skill set the NFL has never seen before, with the capability to excel both as a wide receiver and a cornerback. He won the 2024 Heisman Trophy after producing 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns with a rushing touchdown on offense and 32 tackles, 11 passes defended, four interceptions and a forced fumble on defense.
The 21-year-old told reporters at the combine last week that he hopes to be selected with the No. 1 pick, which is currently owned by the Tennessee Titans, saying, "My dream was to go No. 1 and be the best I can be."
While it's not yet clear which side of the ball he will focus on in the NFL, a defensive backs coach told Feldman that he expects Hunter to play defense.
"I think he’d be a good NFL receiver. I think he can be a great NFL corner because he’s so instinctive and so quick and has great ball skills," the coach said.
