Rams' McVay 'Sleeping Better' After Matthew Stafford Signed Contract amid Trade Rumors

Sean McVay has plenty to stress about as the Los Angeles Rams enter the offseason, but he no longer has to worry about who his starting quarterback will be in 2025.

The Rams and veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford agreed to a restructured contract last week after months of uncertainty about his future in Los Angeles. McVay has been sleeping better in the days following Stafford's return.

"Obviously, that was always the end goal in mind," he said, per NFL.com's Kevin Patra. "... I think ultimately it's about the partnership and how important it is to have him leading the way. Couldn't be more grateful, really excited about it, and (I've) been sleeping better these last couple days."

The Rams granted Stafford's agent permission to talk to teams this offseason and gauge the signal caller's value as he searched for a bigger contract. He drew interest from a few teams, namely the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants, but ultimately reached an agreement with his current team.

While McVay was relieved to keep Stafford, he said the team "never really got close" to losing him.

Now Stafford will run it back with the Rams and stay in the city he has called home for four years now.

The Rams have made the playoffs in all but one season since Stafford joined the team in 2021. Los Angeles is coming off another solid season which saw it finish 10-6 and reach the divisional round, where the Rams almost upset the eventual champion Philadelphia Eagles.
