Matthew Stafford Trade Rumors: Raiders, Giants Among Teams with 'Significant Interest'
A pair of rebuilding teams reportedly put themselves in the front of the line in the sweepstakes to trade for Los Angeles Rams star quarterback Matthew Stafford.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants are among the teams with "significant interest" in acquiring Stafford from the Rams this offseason.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
ESPN'sย Sarah Barshopย reported on Saturday that the Rams granted Stafford's agent permission to gauge the signal-caller's market value, though the two sides also had been discussing a reworked contract.
Russini noted that the interest in Stafford from teams like the Raiders and Giants creates anticipation around the league that the Rams "will now be driving up the asking price if they decide to move him."
Both Las Vegas and New York have holes at the quarterback position. The Giants parted ways with former franchise QB Daniel Jones just over midway through the 2024 season, while the Raiders failed to land a quarterback of the future in the 2024 NFL draft. Both teams could be in the running for one of the top quarterbacks in this year's draft class, as New York owns the No. 3 pick while Las Vegas owns the No. 6 pick.
Adding Stafford would significantly improve either team's chance to compete, but neither the Raiders nor the Giants are believed to be a quarterback away from contending for a Super Bowl title in 2025. Also, NFL Network'sย Peter Schragerย reported earlier this week that Stafford isย seeking a contractย with a salary of at least $50 million, so it would be surprising if New York or Las Vegas commits to such a major deal while also giving up assets to acquire him from Los Angeles.
