Jaxson Dart Says He's Modeled His Game After Jalen Hurts: 'He's an Elite Player'
Former Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart revealed that he models his game after Philadelphia Eagles star signal-caller Jalen Hurts.
"I feel like I’m very similar in my play style to him," Dart said on Friday, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "I feel like we can do a lot of the same things."
"Obviously, he’s an elite player and I’m trying to reach that level," he added.
The 21-year-old explained that he's looking to emulate Hurts' dual-threat impact as he prepares for the 2025 NFL draft.
"But he’s been somebody that I’ve tried to resemble my game after just because of his versatility — being able to run and throw the ball, and just how strong he is in the pocket," Dart said, per Simmons. "That’s something that I’ve had a lot of fun watching, observing his play style."
Dart was efficient both in and out of the pocket during his senior season with the Rebels, completing 69.3 percent of his throws for 4,279 yards and 29 touchdowns compared to six interceptions.
He showed the ability to make plays on the ground, although he didn't utilize his legs at the same frequency as Hurts typically does. Dart rushed for 495 yards and three scores in 2024.
He was ranked as the No. 4 quarterback on the latest big board from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department. B/R NFL Scout Dame Parson highlighted Dart's rushing ability in his scouting report.
"Dart is a strong and tough runner," Parson wrote. "He is functional athletically to threaten unsuspecting defenses in the red zone. He is comfortable extending plays, keeping his eyes down the field, and throwing on the move."
As Dart navigates through the pre-draft process, he's attempting to make a similar impact as the reigning Super Bowl MVP.
