NFL News: Jaire Alexander Reportedly on Packers' Trade Block Ahead of Free Agency
The Green Bay Packers have reportedly engaged in trade talks focused on two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Packers are open to potentially trading Alexander "for the right price."
The 28-year-old veteran signed a four-year, $84 million contract extension with the Packers in 2022. He is signed through the 2026 season at an average annual salary cap hit of around $26.6 million, per Spotrac.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Originally the No. 18 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft out of Louisville, Alexander has been a starter for the vast majority of his seven NFL seasons in Green Bay.
Starting 76 of the 78 regular-season games he has appeared in, Alexander has recorded 287 tackles, 12 interceptions, 70 passes defended, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
His breakout year occurred in 2020 when Alexander was named a Pro Bowler and Second-Team All-Pro for the first time. Despite having just one interception, he established himself as a shutdown corner whom opposing quarterbacks actively avoided.
Two years later, Alexander hauled in a career-high five picks, and he was once again selected as a Pro Bowler and Second-Team All-Pro.
Injuries have been the biggest factor holding Alexander back from reaching his full potential. Although he matched his career high with 16 games played in 2022, Alexander missed 13 games in 2021 mainly due to a shoulder injury, missed 10 games in 2023 primarily due to a back injury and missed 10 games last season because of a knee injury.
Over the past four seasons, Alexander has played in a total of 34 games and missed 34 games, which has often put the Green Bay secondary in tough situations.
Alexander's $21 million annual salary is the third-highest in the league among corners, per Spotrac. It's tough to justify that price when he misses as many games as he plays.
Should the Packers find a taker for Alexander and his contract, corner will become a huge need.
Green Bay already has Eric Stokes and Corey Ballentine set to hit free agency this offseason. Trading Alexander would leave the Packers with Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine as their only viable options at boundary corner.
The Packers own the No. 23 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, and they could be in the market for a cornerback such as Notre Dame's Benjamin Morrison or East Carolina's Shavon Revel Jr. at that spot if they move Alexander.
