Jets Rumors: Tyrod Taylor Has 'Multiple' Internal Supporters amid Aaron Rodgers Exit
Tyrod Taylor has "multiple supporters" within the New York Jets following the organization's split from former starter Aaron Rodgers, Josina Anderson reported for Bovada.
"Not only are there people who hold Taylor in a higher regard than one might think for a player who only played in two games in the green and white last season, but certain individuals in that building are complimentary of his ability to pass and run an offense," Anderson wrote.
Taylor made two appearances, both in relief of Rodgers, during his first season with the Jets. He is currently signed through the 2025 campaign at a cap hit of $6.8 million.

In that limited sample, Taylor went 17-of-22 for 119 passing yards and three passing touchdowns.
The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt said earlier this month that he believed Taylor to be "the leader in the clubhouse" ahead of the draft and free agency.
Taylor, who will turn 36 ahead in August, has not competed as a full-time starting quarterback since he played for the Buffalo Bills between 2015 and 2017.
Since then he has played reserve roles for the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans and New York Giants.
He made five starts and 11 appearances as part of the Giants' quarterback carousel in 2023 prior to signing with the Jets as Rodgers' backup last offseason.
The Jets announced on Feb. 13 that team leadership had met with Rodgers and "shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback."
The Jets could now target their next starter with the No. 7 pick of the upcoming draft, with a trade, with a free agency signing— or by promoting a quarterback already in the building.
Giving Taylor a starting role next fall could put the Jets on track to target their next franchise quarterback in the 2026 draft.
It is meanwhile not yet clear whether Rodgers will be returning to the NFL for the 2025 season. Rodgers has said he wants to play for a contender, and there is reportedly not yet strong overlap between those franchises and teams interested in signing the veteran quarterback.
