The Rock Teases Future of Cody Rhodes Storyline Ahead of WWE Elimination Chamber

Mike ChiariFeb 25, 2025

Ahead of his appearance Saturday at the Elimination Chamber premium live event in Toronto, WWE legend The Rock made a post Tuesday on X regarding his storyline with WWE champion Cody Rhodes.

Along with a video of his segment with Rhodes from last week's episode of SmackDown during which he said he wanted Rhodes' "soul," The Rock wrote that there are "some disruptive moves coming up."

The Rock also made note of the fact that his appearance last week helped SmackDown secure the No. 1 rating in the 18-to-49-year-old demographic across all networks last Friday.

Last week Thursday, The Rock announced that he would be on SmackDown the following night, which came as a big surprise to wrestling fans.

One aspect of his appearance was the unveiling of New Orleans as the host city for WrestleMania 42 in 2026, but that wasn't the only reason he was there.

The Rock played up his Final Boss character and the fact that he is a real-life member of the TKO board of directors during his promo with Rhodes. He indicated that he wanted Cody to be "his" champion, suggesting a desire to mold Rhodes into his own vision as the face of WWE.

While The American Nightmare was reluctant to give an answer, The Rock said he would be at Elimination Chamber to hear Cody's final decision.

That segment added a highly unexpected wrinkle to Cody's road to WrestleMania, as it now appears The Rock will be part of his story, just as he was last year at WrestleMania 40 when Rhodes beat Roman Reigns for the WWE title.

If Cody accepts The Rock's offer, it could potentially be the start of a heel turn. However, if Rhodes turns The Rock down, it may lead to The Final Boss recruiting someone who is willing to obey him.

The winner of Saturday's men's Elimination Chamber match between John Cena, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul and Damian Priest will be in line to challenge Rhodes for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41.

Depending on what Cody decides, it is fair to wonder if The Rock will have an impact on the men's Chamber match by essentially handpicking the person he wants to go up against Rhodes on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
