Report: Why Shedeur Sanders Decided Not to Throw at 2025 NFL Combine
Shedeur Sanders' reason for choosing not to throw at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine was unveiled by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Monday.
"And the messaging teams have received, at least from Sanders' camp, is that he does want to highlight his Colorado receivers," Fowler said during an appearance on SportsCenter. "He's got several pass-catchers that are draft-eligible and are good players. He wants to make sure those players get the proper publicity."
Sanders is planning on throwing at Colorado's pro day alongside four Buffaloes receivers that are eligible for the 2025 draft, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Fowler noted that teams aren't "overly surprised" with the quarterback's decision, as he's still set to meet with front offices in Indianapolis.
"And the coaches I talked to today said, 'Look, I would have liked to have seen him throw, but I guess I'm just going to have to make that trip to Colorado to see it,'" Fowler said.
It isn't uncommon for quarterback prospects to skip throwing at the combine, as Chicago Bears passer Caleb Williams and Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels did so leading up to the 2024 NFL draft.
Carolina Panthers signal-caller Bryce Young also passed on showcasing his arm talent in Indianapolis prior to the 2023 draft.
Sanders put together a strong senior season with the Buffaloes in 2024, completing 74 percent of his passes for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns while getting picked off 10 times. He also recorded four touchdowns on the ground.
In the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department, Sanders was projected to head to the New York Giants with the No. 3 overall pick.
As the 23-year-old navigates through the pre-draft process, he wants to put more focus on his teammates at Colorado's pro day. It should be easier for Sanders to throw to familiar faces as well.
