Report: Russell Wilson, Giants Agree to Contract Worth Up to $21M Amid Rodgers Rumors
Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson's time in the Steel City has reportedly come to an end after just one year.
After spending the 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wilson agreed to a new one-year deal worth up to $21 million with the New York Giants, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Giants moved on from former franchise quarterback Daniel Jones during the 2024 season. New York owns the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL draft and could select a quarterback who could spend their rookie year getting veteran mentorship from Wilson.
Schefter reported on Dec. 26 that the Steelers had hoped to retain Wilson during the offseason, but the team instead pursued veteran free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has yet to make a decision on his future.
After entering the year as the presumptive starting quarterback for Pittsburgh, Wilson re-aggravated a lingering calf injury late in training camp, allowing Justin Fields to take over as the starter. Fields opened the year by leading the Steelers to a 4-2 record and threw for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns and an interception while also adding five rushing touchdowns.
Wilson took over in Week 7 against the New York Jets and showed signs of his old self, throwing for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions with two rushing scores while helping the team finish with a 10-7 record and earn a playoff berth before losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card Round.
Wilson began his career with the Seattle Seahawks, who selected him with a third-round pick in the 2012 draft. He immediately earned the starting quarterback job and went on to become a nine-time Pro Bowler and a second-team All-Pro in 2019. He helped lead Seattle to its first Super Bowl title in franchise history in the 2013 season.
After being traded to Denver and signing a five-year, $245 million contract extension, Wilson struggled to find his footing in his new surroundings. He went a combined 11-19 as the team's starter and was benched for the final two games of the 2023 campaign.
After leaving Pittsburgh to sign with the Giants, Wilson will try to cap his career with a happy ending.
