Hill offered a brief statement to Evan Daniels of Scout.com about why he chose the Bruins.
"I really didn’t think that I was going to make the decision today," Hill said. "They spelled out everything I wanted and everything I was looking for in a college. There was no other second place to them. I went with my gut."
Daniels noted Hill's commitment came after he had an unofficial visit to the UCLA campus.
Per 247Sports, Hill is listed at 6'8", 200 pounds and is a 4-star prospect ranked 35th overall in the 2017 class. The Corona, California, native ranks ninth among power forwards in the class.
According to ESPN's Jeff Borzello, the Bruins have reason to get excited about Hill because of his performance for USA Basketball's under-16 team:
Even though there's still a lot of work to be done for the 2016 recruiting class, Bruins head coach Steve Alford is already off to a strong start for 2017. Hill clearly saw something he liked with the program to make this early commitment.
Now, Hill can focus on finishing up his high school career and getting better before jumping to the Bruins in two years. That's a long wait for a teenager, but this talented young man will be worth it for UCLA fans.
