Trey Lyles to Jazz: Twitter Reacts as PF Is Selected in 2015 NBA Draft
Kentucky forward Trey Lyles is on his way to the Utah Jazz after being selected 12th overall in the 2015 NBA draft.
Kyle Tucker of the Courier-Journal snapped a shot of the moment Lyles learned of his new home.
Lyles took to Bleacher Report's Uninterrupted to say what he hopes to become at the next level:
Lyles spent one season at Kentucky, averaging 8.7 points per game and 5.2 rebounds in 23.0 minutes. At 19 years old, Lyles is 6'10", 235 pounds and is a solid presence under the basket. Despite his big body, he played more of a small forward role due to the depth of Kentucky's size last season.
According to ESPN's Jeff Goodman and the Courier-Journal's Steve Jones, the Jazz and the league have just seen a little bit of what Lyles can do.
John Reid of NOLA.com and the Salt Lake Tribune's Aaron Falk broke down Lyles' play and what he can bring to the Jazz.
Utah went 38-44 last season, finishing 11th in the Western Conference. Lyles will be teaming up with a forward group that includes Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors, and they are building a dangerous team, according the Toronto Sun's Ryan Wolstat.
RealGM showed some of the players he is comparable to.
Lyles was a McDonald's All-American out of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. In 28 games in his senior season, he averaged 23.7 points per game and 12.9 rebounds, according to MaxPreps.com.
Utah will look to move its way up in a very difficult Western Conference, and Lyles is another step in the right direction of building a young team up to a major player among the league's elite.
