
Tom Izzo, Michigan State Agree to New Contract: Latest Details and Reaction
Tom Izzo has been at the helm for the Michigan State men's basketball team since the 1995-96 season, and his successful tenure has no end in sight after he signed a contract extension Wednesday.
According to Kyle Feldscher of MLive.com, MSU's board of trustees voted unanimously to extend Izzo's deal through the 2020-21 season.
Financial terms of the contract were not released, but the 60-year-old coach made over $4 million in total during the 2014-15 campaign, per USA Today. Only four coaches were better compensated than Izzo.

The Iron Mountain, Michigan, native has led the Spartans to the NCAA tournament in 18 consecutive seasons. That includes a national championship in 2000 and seven Final Four appearances.
This past season was one of Izzo's best coaching performances, as he took a Michigan State team devoid of superstar players all the way to the Final Four before falling to eventual national champion Duke.
Izzo boasts a remarkable .713 winning percentage during his time at Michigan State, and ESPN's Jay Bilas put him in an elite class:
It certainly isn't easy to be competitive on a yearly basis in college basketball because of the amount of turnover with one-and-done players, but Izzo has managed to keep Sparty in the hunt consistently.
Michigan State is often among the most veteran-laden teams in the country, which also speaks to his ability to keep guys in school for multiple years.
Izzo has undoubtedly been among the best coaches in the nation for nearly two decades, and his latest contract extension suggests MSU is very much aware of the asset it possesses.
