During the second quarter against the Golden State Warriors, Andrew Bogut fouled James, whose momentum sent him into the assembled crowd on the baseline. During the fall, he got a little too up close and personal with a cameraman:
Michael Shamburger of The Big Lead showed the aftermath of the collision:
James didn't leave the contest with the ailment. At halftime, Marc Stein of ESPN reported James indicated to Doris Burke that the wound had been closed up with glue.
Bleacher Report's Ethan J. Skolnick also reported James received stitches following the game:
"Of course I have a headache," James said at the half, according to ESPN.
ESPN also passed along comments from NBA commissioner Adam Silver, who explained why James wasn't required to undergo further evaluation on his head, "If he stops bleeding he doesn't have to come out of the game. It seemed to be a surface cut, he seemed to be fine. He hit a free throw and stayed in the game."
After the game, James indicated the camera cut him "pretty bad" and that he wanted to shoot free throws so that he could stay in the game, according to Skolnick.
Head coach David Blatt said, "I don't think (LeBron) had a serious hit to the head. He seems fine," per NBA on ESPN.
It's no question the Cavaliers will need LeBron at 100 percent to have a chance of closing out the Finals. Given all of the health problems Cleveland has suffered, having James hobbled in any way is a worst-case scenario.
