Curry Ties Finals Record for 3-Pointers in a Quarter
Although it wasn't enough to lead his team to victory, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry tied an NBA Finals single-quarter record with his five three-pointers made in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's 96-91 Game 3 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, per GSWStats.
Ray Allen for the Boston Celtics previously set the record in the second quarter of Game 2 in the 2012 Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Tuesday night's occurrence was a bit more dramatic, with Golden State trailing by as much as 20 late in the third quarter and then entering the fourth quarter facing a 72-55 deficit.
Curry, who made just four of his 21 three-point attempts through the first two games of the series, ended up making five of his six shots from beyond the arc during Tuesday's fourth quarter, with four of those buckets coming in the final two minutes, 45 seconds.
He kept an otherwise stagnant Warriors squad in the game, accounting for 17 of his team's 36 points in the final frame.
Curry still finished the game with a modest 27 points. He made 10 of his 20 field-goal attempts and seven of his 12 three-point attempts without attempting a single free throw.
He's now made 32.4 percent of his three-point attempts and 39.7 percent of his field-goal attempts during the series, averaging 24.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.7 steals and a whopping 5.3 turnovers.
