Daily Fantasy Baseball 2015: Best MLB DFS DraftKings Lineup for May 20

Rob GoldbergMay 20, 2015

While most daily fantasy baseball lineups revolve around the pitchers, Wednesday's action will likely come down to the hitters. This might be a rare chance to spend big on the quality batters throughout the league.

With no true aces on the mound and the top names struggling to start the year, this is your chance to grab the sleepers on the board. As a result, here is a look at an optimal lineup for May 20 with a breakdown of the key factors.

As always, remember to check team lineups before submitting your roster.

Jake Odorizzi, Tampa Bay Rays

Unlike the other top names on the board such as Tyson Ross and Jordan Zimmermann, Jake Odorizzi has been as consistent as they come in 2015. He has seven quality starts in eight appearances while allowing one run or fewer in five of those games.

Add in his 22 strikeouts and zero (!) walks over the last four starts, and this seems like a safe option for your team.

Chase Anderson, Arizona Diamondbacks

There is more risk involved in an unproven pitcher such as Chase Anderson, but he has fared well over the last three starts with just two runs and 10 hits allowed in 18.1 innings. The fact each start ended in a no-decision might just make him more ready to put up zeroes (or request a trade).

Pitching against the flailing Miami Marlins in a park that is second to last in the league in home runs allowed this year, according to ESPN.com, should all give you faith in this pick.

Washington Nationals Stack

Although New York Yankees pitcher Adam Warren has been a solid member of their rotation, the Washington Nationals have simply been red hot as of late.

Ian Desmond has seven hits during the four-game winning streak, Wilson Ramos hit a home run Tuesday to continue his seven-game hitting streak and Danny Espinosa has, incredibly, scored a run in eight straight games. This doesn't even count Bryce Harper, who has been the hottest batter in baseball, as exemplified by this stat:

There is truly no price too high for Harper right now as long as he keeps up his Roy Hobbs impression.

Nelson Cruz, Seattle Mariners

Nelson Cruz has been very good against right-handers this season. He has been truly incredible against left-handers this year. So far, he has put up a .591 batting average with six home runs in just 22 at-bats, equaling a 2.224 OPS.

This isn't sustainable, and Baltimore Orioles starter Wei-Yin Chen has pitched well lately, but you don't want to bet against Cruz right now.

Eric Hosmer/Mike Moustakas, Kansas City Royals

Jason Marquis has struggled over his last two starts for the Cincinnati Reds, allowing a combined 11 runs in 8.2 innings. Facing the Kansas City Royals hasn't been a good opportunity to turn things around for pitchers this year.

Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas have hit well all season, and the lefties should be able to put up good numbers Wednesday.

David DeJesus, Tampa Bay Rays

With so much high-priced talent, you need to compromise somewhere. You can certainly do worse than David DeJesus, who is batting .391 over his past seven games with five RBI in that stretch.
