Doug Flutie and Andre Agassi at the U.S. Open: Inspiring

MarkOskar RandmaaAug 31, 2009

He isn't going to beat Federer, or even Gulbis anytime soon on the tennis court, but he can hurl a football in the most dramatic style as good as anyone has in the past. The Hail Mary pass with Boston College continues to be legendary, but that is not why Mr. Flutie is being honored in Arthur Ashe stadium...

Doug Flutie, here tonight, in Flushing Meadows is being honored for his charitable work with his established Doug Flutie Jr. Autism Foundation, in honor of his son Doug Jr. who lives with Autism.

Being a Canadian, we were honored to have that Boston College guy play in the CFL for so many years. He worked magic week in and week out in the Great White North, was a special citizen contributing to community causes, his family, and to his charitable goals.

Doug Flutie is one of those special guys that comes around too rarely. With so many athletes finding trouble and being what really is the opposite of a role model, Doug remains, truly a role model for how to make a difference in this world. Doing more for the causes that matter.

In the same ceremony, none other than Andre Agassi is honored for his charitable work with the Andre Agassi foundation, raising over $75 million to date. He spoke some very wise words tonight, (paraphrasing) "If you care, you do.", you act on it! We can all take these words more seriously to make a difference in this world. If you care, you do.

Tennis is a game that we love and are passionate about, but it is still just a game. We hit a yellow ball back and forth. Sure it's fun, but maybe if we can all be as passionate about some more important things in life, like making a difference, the world can be a better place.
