Springer Activated from DL
Wednesday, May 13
The MLB Lineups Twitter account confirmed that Springer is in Wednesday night's starting lineup against the San Francisco Giants and will be batting cleanup and playing right field.
Springer left Houston's May 5 contest after robbing Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre of extra bases with an incredible catch at the wall. Major League Baseball provided fans with a look at the play:
Springer has four home runs and 12 RBI on the season, but he makes his mark on the defensive side of the ball. The 25-year-old outfielder has a flair for the dramatic with the glove and earned the praise of MLB.com's Richard Justice:
Houston needs Springer in the long-term lineup if it hopes to parlay its early success into a spot in the pennant chase in August and September.
Despite the four home runs, Springer is hitting under .200 in the early going. However, the bat should come around, and Springer has taken plenty of runs away with his glove already this season.
The Astros will be happy to have him back in the lineup.
