Hoffenheim vs. Borussia Dortmund: Team News, Preview, Live Stream and TV Info

Stefan BienkowskiMay 1, 2015

Markus Gisdol's side is one of three sides sitting above Dortmund in the quest for Europa League football next season but could be dealt a compromising blow should the Black and Yellows take all three points from the away tie.

Jurgen Klopp's side will be fresh and equally determined off the back of their dramatic win over Bayern Munich in the DFB Pokal Cup earlier in the week and will be confident of picking up the necessary points.

Team Lineups

Dortmund will still be without Nuri Sahin and Kevin Grosskreutz, who both remain a fair distance away from full fitness, while goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller may yet make a late return to the side.

Assuming that the latter is still deemed unfit to play, Klopp should have no issue continuing with in-form Mitch Langerak in front of a defensive line of Erik Durm, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Mats Hummels and Marcel Schmelzer.

In midfielder, we should once again welcome Sven Bender and Ilkay Gundogan, while Sahin remains out injured, with Marco Reus, Shinji Kagawa and Jakub Blaszczykowski, leaving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to play as the lone striker.

Oliver Baumann will start in goals for Hoffenheim, while Andreas Beck, David Abraham, Ermin Bicakcic and Jeremy Toljan make up the back line in front of him.

Gisdol will stick with a midfield trio of Sebastian Rudy, Pirmin Schwegler and Eugen Polanski while Kevin Volland and Roberto Firmino play off Anthony Modeste up front.

Key Players

Shinji Kagawa

Reus may well be the star of this Dortmund show but with his slight dip in form in recent weeks, Kagawa has picked up the slack and of late dealt killer blows to Bundesliga opponents when necessary.

The Japanese international scored against Frankfurt and Paderborn last month and if he starts, he'd be well placed to do the same against this Hoffenheim side.

Roberto Firmino

Although Firimino has been a little quiet in recent weeks for Hoffenheim, the Brazilian playmaker is undoubtedly one of the most talented players in the league and could hurt any side with ease when he's up to it.

Dortmund may have turned their form around, but they are still vulnerable at the back. Should Firmino be offered time and space, then there's no doubt he'll do his best to punish Klopp's team.
