Ratings On Fox Nascar Coverege Down 13%, Blame It On a Cartoon

I know this is an old story revisited, but it is the off week, so here it is!

NASCAR on Fox has been going through a few bad years, the 2009 season brought them a 13 % slip on the ratings.

Who can you blame for this?

Could it be the fact Darrell his bother Darrell and his other brother Darrell do the broadcasting as if they were only talking to their neighbors and friends ?

You know what I’m saying?

Do you at times feel like your intruding on their time? After all we want to know about all the drivers, not just their favorites.

Am I wrong?

Do you understand all the ribbing and inside jokes?

Are they all that funny? Just asking.

Do you like that BUUGGGADDYII BBUGGADIII thing?

Is there just too many commercials?

Am I asking too many questions?

Ok, those should be enough to keep you busy for now.

Who does NASCAR think is to blame for the ratings down slide?

Here is a quote that will make it simple to understand.

“Blame it on Digger. Digger is Fox's animated gopher who pops up in Fox's pre-race programming, and some believe that disdain for the gopher has hurt ratings -- seriously. Hill said that he received a recent email from a "high-ranking NASCAR official" blaming Digger for the poor ratings. Hill said the email claimed, "It was because of Digger that people were turning off in droves because they couldn't stand it . . . I said, 'I'm so sorry. If I'd known, I never would have created him. I didn't realize how insidious he was . . . It's the biggest crock of (stuff) I've ever heard."

Are you kidding me!

They blame it on a cartoon!

An animated , beaver, squirrel, mouse, or whatever it is, do they know Digger is not for real !

Do you know Digger is not for real ?

Well, if you thought he was for real , let me break the news to you , there is a Santa and there is a tooth fairy , but there is no varmint that wears glasses and lives underneath the race track.

I know your probably disappointed, but I’m telling you the truth.

Digger is just a cartoon. I hope NASCAR folks are reading this.

I know they will probably be just devastated to find out there is no gopher-squirrel-rat thing.

There are many reasons why the ratings are down at Fox, amongst then a slow economy, but one thing is for sure, it’s got nothing to do with a cartoon name Digger.

On a side note, Digger has sold about half a billion in merchandise.

Go figure.
