NFL Draft 2015: Full Selection Order and Latest Expert Mock Predictions

Brian MaziqueApr 29, 2015

The wait is almost over.

The 2015 NFL draft gets underway Thursday, and it could be one the most eventful first rounds in a while.

Marcus Mariota is a coveted player who seems to be the target of teams looking to trade up. The 2014 Heisman Trophy winner could be taken as high as No. 1. More than likely, though, it seems he'll be taken No. 2 by the Tennessee Titans, or the team that deals for the pick.

In order to keep track of every pick throughout all seven rounds over three days, take a look at the table below. It will be updated in real time throughout the draft.

Latest Expert Predictions

Mariota Seems to Be Headed to Tennessee Titans

If WalterFootball.com, ESPN.com's Todd McShay and Sports Illustrated's Peter King are correct, Mariota can expect to be drafted by the Titans. All three have him slated to go to Music City and assume the role of franchise quarterback for an organization that desperately needs one.

There are several rumors circulating about teams that could be interested in Mariota. King acknowledged a trade is still a possibility, and he addressed one rumor related to San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers in his blurb about Mariota landing in Tennessee. King writes:

"

As I wrote Monday, I don't think Philip Rivers is going to be an option for Tennessee, and I continue to not hear of the kind of offer that would make Tennessee GM Ruston Webster and coach Ken Whisenhunt waver from their desire to pick Mariota. That still could come, and if some team offers, say, three first-round picks (Cleveland? Philadelphia?), the Titans would think about it.

"

Teams like the Chicago Bears likely have some interest in Mariota, but would new general manager Ryan Pace want to mortgage so much of his team's future on one player? The chances are slim that a new guy would want to push so many of his chips to the middle of the table so early in his tenure.

Who Gets Gurley?

McShay believes that former Georgia Bulldogs running back Todd Gurley has the goods and the health to go No. 6 to the New York Jets. There's no disputing his potential impact in the NFL; Gurley likely has the best combination of size, speed and power we've seen since Adrian Peterson took the league by storm.

Gurley was hampered by injuries throughout his collegiate career, though. Most recently, he suffered a torn ACL in 2014.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, Gurley received positive news from the doctors evaluating his physical condition. Apparently, those reports and the information McShay has compiled in the weeks leading up to the draft have been enough to vault Gurley to No. 6.

McShay cited the clean bill of health as a major factor for putting Gurley further up his board:

"

Now that Gurley is cleared from a medical standpoint, I think he's going to go high. Maybe not this high, but I do think this pick would make sense. The Jets' biggest need is at quarterback, but they won't be able to find one in this scenario, and having an elite back like Gurley would provide help for an offense that won't be getting above-average quarterback play.

"

Walter Football and King aren't quite as optimistic about how high Gurley will be selected. They both have him slated to land with the Miami Dolphins at No. 14.

In all three cases, there seems to be no question Gurley will be the first running back taken in the draft.

Who Will the Jacksonville Jaguars Take?

KNOXVILLE, TN - OCTOBER 4: Dante Fowler Jr. #6 of the Florida Gators gestures toward fans in the closing seconds of the game against the Tennessee Volunteers at Neyland Stadium on October 4, 2014 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Florida defeated Tennessee 10-9. (

The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of the few teams in the top 10 that probably aren't interested in drafting Mariota or expected No. 1 pick Jameis Winston. Because of that, the team can take its highest-rated player in the draft at a position of need.

McShay and Walter Football believe that will be former Florida Gators defensive end/outside linebacker Dante Fowler. King likes Alabama Crimson Tide receiver Amari Cooper to Jacksonville.

Walter Football explains the Fowler pick:

"

The Jaguars needed offensive line help much more than another player on the defensive front heading into free agency, but they signed Jermey Parnell to a big contract, so they can definitely go with the top player on their board. While many believe that to be Leonard Williams [of the USC Trojans], I'm hearing that Williams isn't as highly regarded among teams as he is in the media, as there is some concern with his consistency.

Dante Fowler might be higher on Jacksonville's board. Besides, Fowler fills a greater need in the wake of the Jared Odrick signing. The Jaguars have to find a better edge rusher.

"

If this is true, Williams could be in for a free fall that most outside of the NFL circles would consider to be a surprise. Could that mean Williams goes seventh to the Bears, or even lower like 13th to the New Orleans Saints?

While there are some things you can count on, there's still obviously a ton of uncertainty. Expect most everything to be cleared up Thursday.
