Glazer added more context to explain Philadelphia's reasoning for acquiring a quarterback who hasn't played in a regular-season game since 2012:
Tebow has always been a polarizing figure, so of course plenty of prominent personalities weighed in on Twitter about his reported impending return to professional football.
ESPN's Adam Caplan adopted a bit of a sarcastic tone in referencing Tebow's future NFL prospects:
The same was true for Evan Silva of Rotoworld:
Cecil Hurt of the Tuscaloosa News compared Philadelphia's QB depth chart to that of Ohio State's:
CBSSports.com's Jon Solomon plans on taking a hiatus while the initial explosion of reactions come in:
The Nation's Dave Zirin weighed in on the potential fan reaction:
Peter Burns of ESPN referenced the bold acquisitions that have defined Philadelphia head coach and personnel chief Chip Kelly's eventful offseason:
Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman made a fitting analogy to describe Tebow's situation:
Dane Brugler of CBSSports.com suggests Tebow's stint in Philly may be a rather short one:
The MMQB's Robert Klemko took a shot at ESPN, which should be all over all things Tebow in the coming weeks:
Ben Volin of The Boston Globe was one of the few supporters of the Tebow signing:
Whatever happens with Tebow, it does sound as though he's been hard at work on his craft. If he does have a chance to truly have staying power in the NFL from here on out, the Eagles are the best possible destination for him to prove he can play.
ESPN's Skip Bayless felt that way in his take on Tebow's comeback:
Jeff Darlington of NFL Network noted how practice will likely factor into whether Tebow sticks with the Eagles:
Kelly's offensive system incorporates spread-style elements, inspired by his explosive, high-octane attack from the University of Oregon. Through two seasons at the helm in Philadelphia, the tactics have worked well.
Prospective Eagles starting QB Sam Bradford is coming off a twice-torn ACL, and Mark Sanchez has been rather turnover-prone throughout his days on the gridiron. There is a plausible scenario in which Bradford can't stay healthy and Sanchez is too erratic that could trigger "Tebow" chants for him to play.
Implausible as it may seem on the surface, Tebow at least has a chance. He's far more mobile and a better athlete than both Bradford and Sanchez, which could allow Kelly to throw in a new wrinkle even if Tebow takes on a situational role.
Should Tebow prove to be drastically more accurate as a passer, there's no telling what might happen. What is certain is that plenty of attention will be given to Kelly's multitude of personnel decisions—not least of those is the decision to bring Tebow aboard.
