Gibson Starting Rehab Following Ankle Surgery

Friday, June 19

The Bulls announced Gibson's arthroscopy by Dr. David Porter went as expected. K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune added the team expects him to undergo four months of rehab.

Gibson was a major contributor for the Bulls this season, averaging 10.3 points and 6.4 rebounds in 27.3 minutes per contest. Along with Joakim Noah, Pau Gasol and Nikola Mirotic, he's helped to form one of the NBA's most effective frontcourts.

While Gibson could possibly miss the beginning of the 2016 season with a four-month recovery timetable, he should be completely fine before the regular season gets into full swing.

Because the Bulls boast ample frontcourt depth, they will have no trouble getting by without Gibson in the interim, but his successful recovery will be vital to the team making another postseason run.
