Arsenal Player Ratings Vs Celtic

Callum D'SouzaAug 27, 2009

Arsenal stormed into the Champions League group stage with a 3-1 win over Celtic at the Emirates. A week earlier Arsenal had dispatched the Scottish side 2-0 meaning the final score was an aggregate of 5-1. Arsenal just keep looking stronger and stronger and hopefully this is the first step in finally winning the Champions League.

Manuel Almunia: 6: Another quiet encounter for the Spainard. When called upon did the required tasked and was unlucky not to have a full two leg clean sheet.

Bacary Sagna: 8: Controlled everything that came his way and was a constant threat in attack, offering superb crosses and runs.

William Gallas: 9: A superb performance from the in-form Frenchmen. Stopped everything the Celtic attack had to offer and was more than threatening when he galloped up front.

Thomas Vermaelen: 7.5: Neat and tidy. Dealt with the likes of McDonald and McGeady with ease.

Gael Clichy: 7.5: Was troubled on a few occasions by McGeady but had most of the Celtic attack under control. Was increibly useful in attack by providing great crosses.

Alexandre Song: 7: Made some strong tackles and showed he can be very physical.

Emmanuel Eboue: 8.5: A terrific performance. His constant movement and pace on and off the ball terrorized the Celtic back four and capped of his great night with an impressive goal.

Denilson: 8: Kept the ball, provided neat and simple passes, found and created space. All in all a great perfomance from the Brazalian

Abou Diaby: 7: His big, long, French legs did terrorize occasionally but did have patches of quietness. Did well to set up Eboue.

Eduardo Da Silva: 7: A rather interesting dive to get Arsenal a penalty which he calmly slotted home. A tad wasteful at times but is starting to return to that Eduardo form we witnessed before.

Nicklas Bendtner: 8: A solid peformance. Confident and dangerous on the ball and a lovely back heel to set up the second goal.

Substitues

Aaron Ramsey: 6.5: Came on and looked relatively threatening. A few impressive passes.

Andrei Arshavin: 7: Entered the game 20 minutes into the second half and in minutes the Russian found the back of the net.

Jack Wilshere: 7: A rare chance for the youngster, looked very dangerous before receiving a knock.
