Mitt Romney Nailed His NCAA Bracket, Remains in the Top 1 Percent

Dan CarsonApr 6, 2015

After all the upsets and buzzer-beaters, Mitt Romney remains in his element as a member of the March Madness 1 percent.

The Huffington Post's Scott Conroy reported that after Saturday's Final Four games, the former Republican presidential candidate is sitting comfortably in the 99.98th percentile of users who filled out brackets for ESPN.com's Tournament Challenge.

ESPN's Darren Rovell tweets that after Duke's win over Wisconsin last night, Romney improved his bracket into the 99.99 percentile for national Tournament Challenge entries.

Reminder: That's in the top 7,000 of 11.57 million. Not too shabby.

---End of Update---

Romney nailed six teams in the Elite Eight and correctly chose Wisconsin and Duke to face off in the championship game. He also took a ride on Michigan State, picking the seventh seed to streak all the way to the Final Four.

This is a stark change from three years ago, when Romney told reporters during his 2012 presidential campaign that he wasn't "plugged in well enough" to confidently make picks. Now, Romney holds one of the most accurate brackets out of the 11.57 million made on ESPN.com, and he could possibly improve his ranking with a Duke win Monday night.

You've got to hand it to the man. He's taken his lumps politically, but he's beating the hell out of Barack Obama in bracketology this year.

Dan is on Twitter. His bracket is a barn fire.
