Passan later reported the full details of Carrasco's deal with the Indians:
Cleveland confirmed the move on Tuesday.
Carrasco, 28, will make roughly $2.34 million this season, per Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. The righty went 8-7 with a 2.55 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 2014, splitting his time between the bullpen and the starting rotation. He's set to return to full-time starter duty for 2015, where he'll be put behind ace Corey Kluber.
News of Carrasco's extension comes a day after Kluber, the reigning American League Cy Young winner, agreed to a five-year deal, per Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com. The 28-year-old Kluber went 18-9 with a 2.44 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 2014.
Passan weighed in on the move to lock up both Carrasco and Kluber:
Locking both foundational stars up should help Cleveland continue building a winner. The Indians went over .500 in back-to-back seasons for the first time in more than a decade and are expected to compete for an AL Central crown.
With Carrasco and Kluber in place for the foreseeable future, things are looking awfully bright going forward.
