WWE Superstar of the Week for March 28

The Doctor Chris MuellerMar 28, 2015

It's that time of year again: Kids are going on spring break, the leaves are starting to grow again and, of course, it's WrestleMania.

WWE Superstars and Divas have all stepped up their game in recent weeks on the road to the biggest show of the year. They always work hard, but this is like the Super Bowl. You have to push just a little harder when it's the big game.

A number of different performers have gone above and beyond over the past seven days, but only one person can be Superstar of the Week.

Honorable Mention: The Divas

It's tough to say how much impact the #GiveDivasAChance movement has had on recent booking, but we do know that over the past few weeks, the Divas have delivered.

The women we are talking about specifically are AJ, Paige and the Bella twins. All four of these ladies have been putting on good matches and delivering solid promos.

Women's wrestling has never been a priority for WWE management, but they have recently shown a willingness to give them a little more time, and it has made all the difference in the world.

Paige and Nikki put together a great match on Raw, and then Nikki stole the show on SmackDown with a promo that felt fresh and showed off her charisma in ways we don't normally see.

AJ and Paige have been great performers for a long time, but the Bella twins have made some big strides in their mic work and ring skills. WrestleMania will be a big night for these four women. Hopefully they can show the world that the Divas are more than just silicone and spandex on Sunday.

Honorable Mention: Sting

For the first time ever, Monday Night Raw opened with a promo from Sting. It's been over a decade since Steve Borden opened a wrestling broadcast on Monday night, and for those who watched him in WCW, it brought back many fond memories.

The build to his match with Triple H has been very fun to watch. Triple H has done most of the heavy lifting, but this week was all about the Stinger.

His promo, confrontations with Stephanie McMahon and showdown with Triple H all worked extremely well to push their feud.

One of the reasons people love Sting is because he is so reliable. When he appears, you know he is going to deliver in whatever role he is performing. When he collides with Triple H on Sunday, it's going to be epic.

Honorable Mention: AxelMania, SnoopMania and HulkaMania

Celebrity guests are tricky to handle in WWE. Sometimes they are received well by the crowd, but most of the time they don't produce the reaction officials were hoping for.

Jon Stewart was an incredible guest because he came prepared, but there have been some abysmal cameos by other Hollywood personalities that were just painful to watch. Remember Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford?

When Snoop Dogg showed up on Raw, you could tell it was going to be awesome because he is a real wrestling fan and has the kind of charisma it takes to get the crowd on his side.

Snoop wasn't the only one who made his Raw segment fun. Curtis Axel and Hulk Hogan joined the party, and that is when business started to pick up.

Axel has been so good in this new role. He is funny, energetic and passionate about making the most of this opportunity. While he hasn't racked up many wins, he has gained support from the fans.

The crowd loved every second of this segment from Raw because it was actually good. This just proves that WWE needs to get guests who actually like their product and not people who just want to promote something.

Superstar of the Week for March 28: Dolph Ziggler

Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler had a match last week on SmackDown that was so well received that they were given another singles bout on Raw.

Bryan and Ziggler are two of the most versatile Superstars on the roster, and when they get in the ring together, they bring out the best in each other.

While the match itself was great, it was the fact that Ziggler got his second clean win in a row over Bryan that made it special.

When Ziggler and Bryan had a series of matches a few years ago when they were intercontinental and United States champions, Bryan won every encounter. This time around, Ziggler has his number.

Even though he has had a lot of success, Ziggler has never been the kind of guy who beats top stars on a consistent basis. It's about time that changed.

He has worked hard for the last 10 years to be one of the best performers on the roster. It's hard to believe, but Ziggler has been on the main roster since 2005. Where did the time go?

The whole storyline involving the IC title has been a lot of fun. Seven different Superstars have been getting a lot of attention, and the title looks like it's actually important again.

Ziggler and Bryan didn't get the WrestleMania match they wanted, but being in the Ladder Match is going to give them the opportunity to steal the show anyway.

Sunday's pay-per-view is going to have a lot of big moments, but you can bet that the Ladder Match will be one of the most exciting bouts on the card.

What do you think? Was Dolph Ziggler the Superstar of the Week? If not him, then who?
