Old Dominion Fan Raises Up, Takes His Shirt Off, Spins It Like Helicopter

The first superset of March Madness is over, and if you’re like me, you’ve entered that barbarous stage of your college basketball bender where you swish NIT hoops around in your mouth for the taste before spitting it out.

This brings us to Old Dominion, which staved off Illinois State 50-49 Monday night in the second round of the CBB consolation tournament.

It was far from a pretty bout, but the Monarchs lived to play another day, and more importantly, their biggest fan gave us a gift we’ll keep on the mantel forever.

In a moment of rapture, one man removed his shirt and prompted a surge of momentum for Old Dominion no team could hope to resist. UpRoxx’s Andy Isaac posted a Vine of the celebration. Uncork it. Let it breathe, and when you’re ready, let it wash over you:

We’ve seen fans gripped by the spirit of Petey Pablo before, but perhaps none so firmly as this bro. In his mind, “North Carolina” became “Norfolk, Virginia,” and he became the helicopter:

This is strong work. Mama always said shirtlessness was next to meatiness, and this Monarch combined the two into a single, momentum-swinging hurricane. 

Fly, Monarchs, fly. I will now be rooting for you to win the NIT, play the Kentucky Wildcats and cruise onward to an Eastern Conference playoff berth. Show them what real fanship looks like, MM.
