Kansas vs. Iowa State: Score, Twitter Reaction for Big 12 Championship 2015
The comeback kids have done it again. After being down 17 points in the second half, Iowa State stormed back to earn a 70-66 win over Kansas Saturday night in Kansas City, Missouri. The victory gives the Cyclones their second Big 12 tournament title in a row.
Georges Niang led the way for the Cyclones with 19 points and five rebounds in the come-from-behind effort, doing everything necessary to help his team win. Three other players finished in double figures, including a big showing from Abdel Nader, who had 13 points and two important free throws off the bench.

Wayne Selden had his second big game in a row, totaling 25 points after scoring 20 against Baylor in the tournament semifinals Friday. That level of production from the inconsistent player surprised Reid Forgrave of Fox Sports:
Still, the story was Iowa State's ability to claw its way back from a significant deficit as it has plenty of times in recent weeks. The squad came into the day with four wins in a row, each of them coming after facing double-digit deficits.
Head coach Fred Hoiberg was happy about the ability to bounce back after poor starts, although he didn't necessarily enjoy the process.
"It's a great sign when you fall behind (by) double digits to be able to keep your composure and come back and get the win," Hoiberg said after the semifinal win over Oklahoma, via Reuters. "That's a step in the right direction. The next step, I guess, would not be getting down double digits. Maybe that would help."
His team clearly didn't listen to the advice, as a hot start gave Kansas a 37-23 lead over the Cyclones at the half.
As Brian Hamilton of Sports Illustrated noted, the Jayhawks' strategy wasn't complicated:
Selden also helped out in a big way with 13 points in the first half to carry the offense early. The overall play impressed Bleacher Report's C.J. Moore:
However, the second half was pretty much what everyone expected as Iowa State worked its way back into contention. ESPN's Dana O'Neil described the speed at which a blowout turned into a battle:
Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star gave credit to Iowa State's star player coming through at big moments:
The Cyclones eventually took the lead with about seven minutes remaining thanks to consecutive baskets from Bryce Dejean-Jones. John Jastremski of CBS Sports Radio explained how the atmosphere made a difference:
A switch to zone defense helped Kansas tie the game in the final minutes. However, some made free throws by Iowa State to go with missed opportunities on the other end by the Jayhawks helped Niang and Co. secure the win.
Regardless of the outcome in this game, it seemed like the two teams were pretty set in their seeds for the NCAA tournament. Kansas appears to be a No. 2 seed, while Iowa State will likely stay as a No. 3.
No matter where they end up on the bracket, however, both squads have the ability to make a deep run this March.
