Golden State Warriors vs. Denver Nuggets: Live Score, Highlights and Reaction
It was a close call, but the Denver Nuggets were able to escape Pepsi Arena with a victory over a severely depleted Golden State Warriors team, 114-103.
The Nuggets were in control through most of the first three quarters, when Golden State took its first lead of the game to enter the fourth period. The Dubs expanded their lead midway through the fourth, until Denver sparked a 20-4 run to gain control and finish on top by double-digits.
Randy Foye was the key catalyst for Denver in the final period, finishing with 20 points, eight assists and four three-pointers. Danilo Gallinari and Kenneth Faried finished tied with a team-high 24 points. Faried finished with a game-high 17 boards. Jameer Nelson put in 17 points and Wilson Chandler contributed 10 and five assists.
Without Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Bogut, Andre Iguodala and Marreese Speights, the Dubs suited up just nine healthy bodies, and for a while it seemed as if they were going to pull out a victory. James Michael McAdoo, in just his second NBA appearance, scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds, one of six Warriors scoring in double-figures.
Led by his five threes, Justin Holiday led Golden State in scoring with 23 Leandro Barbosa contributed 14 points and nine assists, while Shaun Livingston gave 12 points, eight assists and four boards. David Lee saw his first major action in months, scoring 13 points on 4-of-12 shooting over 31 minutes.
Golden State should be well-rested for their bout against the New York Knicks Saturday night, the second game in a five-in-seven-nights stretch. Denver, now 25-41, next travel to the Big East to take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday.
