The Nightmare the World Witnessed: Kevin Ware Won't Be 'Defined by That Moment'

B/R StudiosMar 13, 2015

On March 31, 2013, former Louisville guard Kevin Ware went down with one of the most gruesome sports injuries ever seen. Ware attempted to block a shot directly in front of the Louisville bench, and as he went to land, his right leg snapped.

The Louisville team, fans and world immediately went into shock, unable to believe what they had just seen.

Ware became the focal point of an emotional ride as the Cardinals went on to the win the 2013 national championship. The outpouring of support was both amazing and powerful, but as time went on, the media proved overbearing for the instantaneous superstar.

Ware became known only as the guy who horrifically broke his leg instead of the Louisville basketball player. He needed a fresh start.

In an exclusive interview, Bleacher Report sat down with the now-Georgia State University guard, who discussed the moment the media pushed him over the edge, starting a new life at Georgia State and his goals as a basketball player.

Watch the video and see why that injury will not define Kevin Ware.

Special thanks to Georgia State University, T3 Media, WDRB, TheCrunchZone.com and CNN for helping to provide footage.
