Manchester United: Who's the Next Star?
Well after a deserved break, it seems life back to normal as the English Premier League is off an running. With two games played the EPL already seems to be getting interesting.
In-form Spurs seem to be one of those teams with depth, talent, and definite top four contenders. While money-splashing City seem to have got the season of to a good start with new signings.
Liverpool came back strongly after loosing their opening fixture, with a 4-0 drubbing of Stoke at home. Spurs continued their good run by smashing Hull 5-1 with a sublime hat-trick from Jermain Defoe.

But the headlines were definitely United loss to new comers Burnley at Turf Moor. The Red Devils who are without a number of first team players in Van der Sar, Vidic & Ferdinand seem a little below par when they came across a determined Burnley unit.
So after just two games, does Sir Alex need to splash some cash on a new attacking midfielder. Is there a need, or does he have enough resources to be the first English team to complete a fourth consecutive title championship.
Well, Manchester United have a huge squad, with talented young players and experience campaigners, but will they march on to another year of success.
The Ronaldo Factor is definitely having an effect, loosing a major player with his scoring ability and "fear factor" will have its effect on opposition teams.
Ronaldo was a player who always had two or three players marking him, which allowed space for other players to exploit, added to the fear that many defences had, he could make something out of nothing. Now that the Portuguese winger is gone, who will fill his £80 million shoes.
Rooney has the potential of been a great striker, an at only 23 he has a long way to go in building his career. But United require an immediate fix, a character that can run at teams with pace and skill, a player that will be a menace to oppositions both at home and abroad.
A number of players stand out, possible signings that could perhaps be as huge as Ronaldo, or close to that.
- Sergio "kun" Aguero
- (Argentinian Footballer) Who Applies his trade in Spain at Atletico Madrid. Aguero is a player that has impressed me for some time now, his ability to take on defences from deep positions and with his speed to carry it to a striking position and usually scores. Sergio is linked with moves to Chelsea, United and Liverpool
- But with the cash at hand at Old Trafford, 40 Million pounds for a 21 year old with immense talent and goal scoring record is a bargain in today's world.
- (2003-2006) Independiente 23 Goals in 54 Appearances
(2006 - Present) Atletico Madrid 42 Goals in 112 Appearance
Aguero has has 19 international caps with seven goals to his name.
- Franck Ribery
- (French International) Plays for German Giant, Bayern Munich in the Bunduslige
- He has impressed the world with his quick feet and movement on the left flank whether he plays for Bayern or for France.
- Ribery has everything a winger requires, speed, skill and has the fear factor that opposition teams talk about in pre-match team talks.
- Ribery is expensive an with Bayern asking for 80M, Sir Alex will have his work cut out if his willing to open talks with Bayern Munich.
- Like Aguero, there's a lot of interest in Ribery, United main rivals are Real Madrid who after a record spending season are prepared to pay 40 Million pounds and give two of their Dutch midfielders for the Frenchman.
- Douglas Costa
- ( Brazilian) At only 18 years of age, the young Brazilian has be sought after by some of Europe elite.
- Gremio, the club Douglas is currently playing for has asked for 20 Million + for their young midfielder.
- His a left footed player with speed and vision. His also known for his free-kick ability.
- After just 11 games for the U/20 Brazilian team, Douglas will soon make it to top flight international status if he continues his form for Gremio.
- United have offered around 6 million but with a buy out clause of 20 million pounds, the club are not willing to negotiate anything less.
- David Silva
- (Spanish) 23-year-old Silva plays for Valencia in the La Liga.
- 2009 has seen a lot of interest for the Spanish international, notably from English clubs.
- A player that can play on with side or in the center supporting the stinker has good vision and speed to menace opposition defenders.
- He could be the man who will turn the fortunes of many Man United fans who feel since the departure of Ronaldo, United seem a little dead in the midfield.
- Silva with his European experience could well be a great buy for Sir Alex, and with the price for many of the other prospects, anything between 25 and 30 million could be a brilliant buy.
- Lets hope Valencia are willing to let go of there main play-maker.
Well, those a few of the top prospects that could light up Old Trafford and put a smile on the faces of millions around the world.
With Micheal Owen and Antonio Valencia already showing willingness another mega cash transfer won't be too bad.
United also have the young talented, Zoran Tosic and Fredrico Macheda in the ranks, so a loss to Burnely is far from over. The season has only begun. Lets hope for the best.
