NIT 2015: TV Schedule, Live Stream Info for Tournament Bracket Reveal
So what your team didn't make the NCAA tournament field; there's always the National Invitation Tournament. It's where 32 top teams head if the NCAA doesn't extend them an invite to the Big Dance. Teams that have won their regular-season conference titles but failed to win the conference tournament get an automatic bid.
From there, the committee fills the remaining spots. This is perfect for the mid-major conference regular-season champions that might have been upset or knocked off in their conference tournament. Oftentimes, a team from a major conference will snatch a spot in the NCAA tournament based on strength of schedule and conference affiliation, etc.

Because of that setup, some really strong mid-major teams find themselves competing in the NIT.
It's a pretty big deal overall as it also gives star players another opportunity to showcase their skills in front of a national audience. The tournament begins on March 17 and runs through April 2, when the 2015 NIT champion will be crowned.

Here's how you can catch the selection show.
When: Sunday, March 15 at 8:30 p.m. ET
TV: ESPNU
Live Stream: WatchESPN
Last year, the Minnesota Golden Gophers won the tournament led by guard Austin Hollins, who won tournament MVP. Hollins used the opportunity to springboard himself to a career in France, where he currently plays professionally.
Minnesota has a chance to return to the NIT this year. The Golden Gophers were eliminated from the Big 10 tournament on Thursday night when they lost 79-73 to the Ohio State Buckeyes. At 18-15 with a 6-12 mark in the Big 10, they would be fortunate to even get a call from the NIT committee.
Per Patrick Engel of Scout Media, Golden Gophers head coach Richard Pitino has his fingers crossed.
If you're looking for a team to watch—should the NCAA not extend an invitation—it's the Indiana Hoosiers. At 20-12 with a 9-9 record in the Big 10, the Hoosiers are a bubble team.
If they land in the NIT, Tom Crean's team could make some serious noise. Indiana defeated the Northwestern Wildcats on Thursday and advance to the quarterfinals of the Big 10 tournament, but that still might not be enough to reach the Big Dance.
If the Hoosiers upset the Maryland Terrapins on Friday, which is unexpected, things could change. If the NCAA doesn't come calling, Indiana has to be considered a team to watch in the NIT.
