SEC Tournament 2015: Quarterfinals Schedule, Live Stream, Bracket Predictions

R. Cory SmithMar 13, 2015

Cue up the dramatic background music and the deep baritone announcer to make it official. On Friday afternoon, SEC fans will finally get what they've all been waiting for. Kentucky, the lone undefeated men's basketball team, will take the stage in Nashville, Tennessee, during the third round of the SEC tournament.

Not only will the Wildcats be starting their tourney run, but they have a rematch of last year's final to begin. Of course, both teams are going in completely opposite directions with the Gators sitting at 16-16 heading into the showdown.

Along with Kentucky, three other teams with double byes will also make their entrance. Arkansas, Georgia and LSU will all look to prove their worth to the NCAA committee to either lock up a berth or simply improve their seed.

Game to Watch: Kentucky vs. Florida

Is there any game in the SEC tournament that will be as hyped as the one Kentucky is playing in? Regardless of the round, all eyes will be on the Wildcats heading into the weekend. And that's exactly how John Calipari wants it.

The first matchup shouldn't exactly be a barn burner for the Wildcats, but it's still a deep rivalry. After all, Kentucky is looking to exact some revenge from last season when it lost, 61-60, to Florida in the SEC Championship Game.

The 31-0 team already got some revenge with a blowout win in the final game of the season. Nicole Auerbach of USA Today jokingly notes just how unfortunate the schedule has ended up for the Gators:

Having just played Florida should give Kentucky plenty of familiarity with the team on the court. Even with Dorian Finney-Smith coming off a 23-point, 11-rebound performance against Alabama, the Wildcats have the size to deal with him inside the paint.

Despite the basketball world—outside of Big Blue Nation, of course—waiting to see if Kentucky will ever drop a game, Calipari has kept a positive attitude. He addressed any criticism from outside the program following the regular-season finale, via Tommy Tomlinson of ESPN.com:

"I want to tell you all," he says, "no one will steal my joy. If you want to attack what we're doing, be nasty about it, have at it. You're not stealing my joy. Coaching this team, with these kind of kids, you're not stealing my joy."

Any naysayers will have to wait until later in March before the Wildcats are truly challenged again. On Friday, Cal's team will show its mettle, moving into the semifinals of the SEC tournament.
