R. Cory SmithMar 12, 2015

College basketball fans pining for Kentucky to finally get a chance on the SEC tournament stage will have to wait another day. Instead, they can feast their eyes on teams like Florida, Ole Miss and Alabama.

Sure, those teams are more well known for their football programs, but they each have hopes of making late runs in the SEC tournament.

Just one of many hors d'oeuvres before the Big Dance, the SEC bracket offers a wealth of programs hoping to make the field of 68. Joe Lunardi of ESPN currently has just five teams from the conference in the bracket. Ole Miss and LSU are still currently on the bubble.

Matchup to Watch: Alabama vs. Florida

NASHVILLE, TN - MARCH 16: Levi Randolph #20 of the Alabama Crimson Tide goes up against Michael Frazier II #20 of the Florida Gators during the semifinals of the SEC Baketball Tournament at Bridgestone Arena on March 16, 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee. (P

To some, it's known as the matchup to decide who faces Kentucky. It's also known as the battle to come away with at least one win.

But for Alabama and Florida, both teams will be looking to build some confidence in Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. With each team in full-on desperation mode during the second round, a win on Thursday might propel either program to much more.

Cecil Hurt of the Tuscaloosa News points out what lies ahead for either team:

The Crimson Tide's strength is the guard play from Levi Randolph and Rodney Cooper. Randolph, a senior, averages 15.2 points, five rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. His senior counterpart Cooper is the second-leading scorer with 10.5 points per game.

Cooper has been asked to step up since the loss of Ricky Tarrant and has done just that. The senior has scored in double digits in the last five games and provided an extra spark.

Alabama basketball's official Twitter account notes just how special the seniors have been for the program:

In order for Bama to take down Florida, it will need to limit Dorian Finney-Smith inside. Thanks to their guard play and senior leadership, the Tide will roll into the third round to take on the Wildcats. At least Bama will secure one win.
