Evans Returns vs. Nuggets
Sunday, March 15
Evans returned against Denver, scoring 25 points and dishing out 10 assists in 43 minutes of action in the Nuggets' 118-111 OT win.
On March 12, Jim Eichenhofer of Pelicans.com spoke to Williams about when Evans may return to the floor. Williams said: "I think he'll be ready to play (Sun.), but wouldn't write it in stone."
Evans missed the team's game on Tuesday night against Brooklyn.
John Reid of NOLA.com described the play that injured the star guard:
"Evans caught a pass from Anthony Davis on the low block and drove in the lane past Michael Carter-Williams but he appeared to had stepped on the foot of forward Ersan Ilyasova before making a pass to guard Norris Cole. Evans went down underneath the basket, holding his left ankle before the Pelicans training staff, Coach Monty Williams and his teammates gathered around him.
"
Evans logged just under 27 minutes in the win and put up 13 points to go with six assists. With All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday still out of the lineup, New Orleans can't afford to lose Evans down the stretch.
A Western Conference playoff bid is still in the Pelicans' grasp despite Holiday and Ryan Anderson currently being out. As long as superstar big man Anthony Davis is on the court, though, Williams' squad has a shot at the postseason.
