Gary Parrish of CBS Sports also had high praise:
Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports believes this group of players can be good enough to reach the Final Four:
Marcus Paige led the way for the Tar Heels with 23 points, while Brice Johnson added 17. However, the Tar Heels simply couldn't stop Duke defensively and ended up losing yet another close one.
As most expected, the second half was filled with plenty of entertainment, which Seth Davis of CBS Sports prepared everyone for:
One of the more notable moments involved Justise Winslow, who was called for a flagrant foul on this play, highlights courtesy of The Cauldron:
He did make up for it with a big run to keep the lead from getting out of hand, though, as Duke pointed out:
North Carolina went up 49-42, but once again Duke battled back with a variety of scorers to take a narrow lead going into the stretch run.
As the half continued, the Blue Devils held just a three-point lead at the under-eight-minute timeout, which excited Dan Shulman announcing the game, via ESPN's Josh Krulewitz:
Then, the road team pulled away, thanks to the play of Jones, who was injured in the second half but returned a few minutes later. The Star-News broke down the point guard's importance in a key stretch:
Jones and Cook held off the Tar Heels to finish off the seven-point victory.
SportsCenter recapped what the game meant for the rivalry:
"It's over in Chapel Hill. No. 3 Duke beats No. 19 UNC, 84-77. Blue Devils sweep Tar Heels for 2nd time in 3 seasons. pic.twitter.com/4OPrTIZkrt

This game was a heavily anticipated battle, not just for college basketball fans around the country but also for the players. Duke got the better of North Carolina the first time these teams played, winning 92-90 in an overtime thriller.
Marcus Paige discussed the mindset of battling back after that loss, via Bret Strelow of The Fayetteville Observer:
"That's why it hurt so bad, not because I didn't play well, but because our team did everything Coach asked us to do, we executed perfectly and the last couple minutes we let it slip away. That makes this game a little more anticipated. Regardless of what we say, we're going to be more hyped for this game than any game of the year.
"
The energy was certainly on display in this one, even though it was Duke that got off to a hot start with 14 points in the first three minutes of game time.
ESPN's Jay Williams joked about the Tar Heels' inability to play defense:
As the half continued, however, Duke started to slow down due to North Carolina's overwhelming pace. Jason McIntyre of The Big Lead noted the team needed rest:
The tired legs were on full display during the first half as the Blue Devils started struggling to make shots. Laura Keeley of The News & Observer pointed out just how bad things got:
They eventually broke the streak with a three from Cook, but North Carolina went into halftime with a 33-31 lead. Dan Graziano of ESPN.com joked about the competitiveness of the game:
The second half was close for about 13 minutes before Duke pulled away for the win to move to 28-3 on the season. The Tar Heels fell to 21-10 overall and 11-7 in conference play.
ESPN Stats & Info added more on the Tar Heels' woes:
The next time each of these teams will take the floor will be at the ACC tournament in Greensboro.
Duke will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament, earning a double-bye to the quarterfinals Thursday. As the No. 5 seed, North Carolina will have to kick off its campaign Wednesday.
Although these rivals are on opposite sides of the bracket, fans probably wouldn't be too upset to see a third installment of this matchup in the conference title game.
