NFL Free Agents 2015: Rumors and Predictions for Available Offensive Options

Chaos will ensue once the NFL free-agent period beings Tuesday, March 10. 

Several dominoes will fall during the offseason's most hectic week, which creates a crazy rumor mill in preparation for the heightened activity. Players of all shapes and sizes can be found on the open market, with a few skill players offering intriguing case studies.

One such option was Randall Cobb, who surpringly agreed to an extension with the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night, per ESPN's Adam Schefter:

It's time to erase the prediction of him going to the Oakland Raiders, who were previously linked to the young wideout by Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson. Forget that last sentence. I had him remaining with the Packers all along. 

Cobb cashed in on a huge year, but can these less established players follow? Will another potential "system guy" also stay put to avoid getting exposed elsewhere? Here's a look at the latest buzz before the storm hits.

Most eyes are glued on Nick Foles' jeopardized tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles, yet another incumbent might stick around under center.

According to NJ.com's Eliot Shorr-Parks, both the Eagles and Mark Sanchez are interested in maintaining their working relationship.

"Considered by many to be the best quarterback option on the market," Shorr-Parks writes, "the Eagles and Sanchez have a strong mutual interest in reuniting next season, a person close to the situation who requested anonymity told NJ Advance Media."

Once an interception-throwing, butt-fumbling punch line, Sanchez revived his career in Chip Kelly's offense. Despite coughing up 14 turnovers in nine games as Foles' injury replacement, the 28-year-old set career highs with a 64.1 completion percentage and 7.83 yards per attempt.

Philadelphia, and any other interested franchise, must determine how much of that success Sanchez owes to the system. On the other hand, perhaps Rex Ryan's conservative, run-first offense devoid of top wideouts dampened his production all along.

Talk persists about Kelly's interest in trading up to draft Oregon's Marcus Mariota, but Sanchez shouldn't cost too much after succeeding in a small sample size. Nobody else will likely break the bank for him, so the Eagles can re-sign him as a security blanket.

Pop quiz: Who led all NFL running backs in yards per carry last season? Oh yeah, cover up the Justin Forsett subhead first.

After jumping from team to team as organization depth, the 29-year-old finally earned a larger role with the Baltimore Ravens, registering 1,266 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 235 carries. Per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, that caught the attention of two NFC squads.

Oddly enough, Washington and the New Orleans Saints are two teams who possess rare workhorse backs. Only five backs tallied more than Alfred Morris' 265 handoffs for Washington, and the newly extended Mark Ingram, whose new deal was first reported by Schefter, received 226 rushes in 13 games.   

As LeSean McCoy can confirm, running backs are devalued across the league as teams realize the ease of locating cheap talent. That knowledge will seemingly prevent a bidding war for Forsett, who is coming off a career year and will turn the dreaded 30 in October.

Unless someone gets desperate after falling short for DeMarco Murray, a Ravens reunion currently makes the most sense. Bernard Pierce's 3.3 yards per carries over the past two years won't inspire hope as a replacement for the man who quickly made everyone forget about Ray Rice.
