Daily Fantasy College Basketball 2015: CBB Draft Kings Strategy for March 7
Almost all of the major conference teams in college basketball are in action Saturday, which leaves daily fantasy players with a lot of choices throughout the day.
While there are certainly a variety of strategies to be successful in these contests, the numerous options might want to encourage people to avoid the higher-priced talent and create more balance in the lineups. This is especially true for the stars likely to compete in slower, low-scoring games like Kentucky-Florida, Virginia-Louisville and Stanford-Arizona.
On the other hand, a high-scoring battle like North Carolina-Duke could feature some bigger individual performances. Here is a look at some of the top value picks for each of the three sets of contests on March 7.

Early Afternoon (12 p.m. ET)
D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, Georgetown ($8,200)

Among the more expensive players, D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera is the one who really has a chance to exceed his value. The Georgetown guard has been great all season, but he has been even better in the past few weeks as he has started to put the team on his back.
The 6'3" guard has totaled at least seven rebounds in each of the last four games, which, added to his scoring, makes him a serious weapon in fantasy. He is averaging 34.95 fantasy points over the last five games.
Seton Hall has fallen apart defensively lately and Smith-Rivera should be able to take advantage with a huge day.
Rashad Madden, Arkansas ($6,400)
As previously mentioned, picking players involved in fast-paced games is always a good strategy for racking up points. When Arkansas and LSU get together, it might be one of the most action-packed games of the season with both teams ranking in the top 10 in the nation in adjusted tempo.
The problem for the Razorbacks is their two top scorers—Bobby Portis and Michael Qualls—could end up being limited by the elite frontcourt duo of Jordan Mickey and Jarell Martin. This leaves an opening for someone to step up on the perimeter and score points in that manner.
Rashad Madden hasn't exactly been racking up the points lately, but he showed the ability to produce in other ways with nine assists and seven rebounds last game against South Carolina. If he can replicate this success and add some scoring on his own, this could lead to a huge day.
More Value Picks
- Jarrod Uthoff, Iowa ($7,000)
- Kourtney Roberson, Texas A&M ($6,500)
- Kadeem Jack, Rutgers ($5,900)
- Ryan Arcidiacono, Villanova ($5,700)
- Trevon Bluiett, Xavier ($5,200)
Late Afternoon (4 p.m. ET)
Jaron Blossomgame, Clemson ($7,100)

Notre Dame has one of the top offenses in the nation and you can get by in selecting just about anyone in the starting lineup. On the other hand, the squad has struggled immensely defensively, especially in the low post.
While Bonzie Colson has been a revelation for the Fighting Irish, he is still just 6'5" and they fail to have much interior defense. This chart showcases just how successful opposing big men have been against Notre Dame, including Jaron Blossomgame:
| 3/4 at LOU | Montrezl Harrell | 23 pts, 12 reb |
| 2/24 vs CUSE | Rakeem Christmas | 14 pts, 12 reb |
| 2/21 at BC | Dennis Clifford | 17 pts, 6 reb |
| 2/17 vs WF | Devin Thomas | 26 pts, 11 reb |
| 2/10 CLEM | Jaron Blossomgame | 17 pts, 14 reb |
| 2/7 DUKE | Jahlil Okafor | 20 pts, 10 reb |
The sophomore only went 2-of-12 from the floor in his last game against North Carolina State, but he should be able to bounce back with a strong effort against one of the worst frontcourts he will see all year.
Nemanja Djurisic, Georgia ($6,500)
Anyone who watched Georgia's battle against Kentucky knows Nemanja Djurisic can be a force when playing at his best. He finished with 18 points and six rebounds in the eight-point loss against one of the best frontcourts ever assembled in college basketball.
Fortunately, things will be much easier when he takes the court against Auburn, a team that has had one of the worst frontcourts in basketball this season.
The Tigers rank 269th in the nation in offensive rebounding percentage, 328th in defensive rebounding percentage and 342nd in two-point defense, according to KenPom.com. Considering there are only 351 measured teams, this would be in the bad category.
Djurisic should be able to keep up his strong play in a dominant effort for the Bulldogs.
More Value Picks
- Frank Mason, Kansas ($7,400)
- T.J. McConnell, Arizona ($7,300)
- Demetrius Jackson, Notre Dame ($5,900)
- Tyrone Johnson, South Carolina ($5,400)
- Jordan Loveridge, Utah ($4,600)
Evening (6:30 p.m. ET)
Brice Johnson, North Carolina ($7,700)

As good as Jahlil Okafor has been on the offensive end this season, he sometimes struggles to defend the paint. With Duke going to a smaller starting lineup—guard Matt Jones has replaced forward Amile Jefferson—there will be an even bigger chance for success for North Carolina's forwards.
This is good news for Brice Johnson, who finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds against Duke last month.
Johnson is coming off an awful 1-of-9 performance last game against Georgia Tech, but he still managed to total nine rebounds and four blocks. He clearly remains a major factor for the Tar Heels and could post some big numbers as long as his layups go into the net.
Wade Baldwin IV, Vanderbilt ($7,100)
Freshman point guard Wade Baldwin IV has made headlines recently for being the target of some choice words from head coach Kevin Stallings. However, he made it clear he and his coach are still on the same page:
Of course, this overshadows the great play from Baldwin lately during the team's recent four-game winning streak. During this stretch he is averaging 13 points, five assists and 4.5 rebounds per game, all of which exceed his season averages.
There is no reason this shouldn't continue against an Ole Miss team that has allowed over 70 points in each of the last three games. The squad plays a conservative brand of defense and allows assists on 62.3 percent of made baskets, which is among the worst in the nation, giving Baldwin plenty of chances to succeed.
More Value Picks
- Josh Scott, Colorado ($7,700)
- Trey Zeigler, TCU ($6,000)
- London Perrantes, Virginia ($5,900)
- Jarvis Summer, Ole Miss ($5,800)
- Justin Jackson, North Carolina ($5,600)
