Kentucky vs. Georgia: Score and Twitter Reaction from 2015 Regular Season

The top-ranked Kentucky Wildcats, on the precipice of a perfect regular season, were challenged in a big way on the road Tuesday against Georgia. ESPN College BBall highlighted Kentucky's continuing "pursuit of perfection":

Thanks to a second-half surge that helped them overcome a deficit which swelled to nine at one point, Kentucky came out on top in the penultimate game of its regular-season schedule, improving to 30-0 with a 72-64 victory in Athens.

Kentucky Basketball referenced the history the Wildcats made following Tuesday's triumph, along with how ferociously they finished the most recent task at hand:

After the two teams were deadlocked at 32 entering halftime, the home crowd rallied around the Bulldogs, and they ran out to a 56-47 advantage with just over nine minutes remaining. However, coach John Calipari's star-studded Wildcats responded in a big way, as has been the case whenever adversity has beset them.

Yahoo Sports' Jeff Eisenberg alluded to the numbers that would seemingly portend a Kentucky loss:

Karl-Anthony Towns led the way for the victors with 19 points, which matched his season-best output. The twin backcourt of Aaron and Andrew Harrison netted 16 and 12 of their own, respectively.

ESPN's Jeff Goodman weighed in how dominant Towns was on Tuesday:

Georgia forward Nemanja Djurisic poured in a team-high 18 points to give the Bulldogs plenty of hope until the latter stages of the game at Stegeman Coliseum.

Whether it be elite defense that ranked second in KenPom.com's defensive-efficiency rankings entering Tuesday's game or timely, explosive scoring, these Wildcats have always found a way.

The only opponent that stands in the way of an undefeated 31-0 regular-season record and an 18-0 mark in the SEC is the Florida Gators. Kentucky will play host to Florida at Rupp Arena on Saturday and will likely give the fans in Lexington plenty to celebrate against a floundering Gators team that is just 15-15 overall.

This is a heartbreaking close call for Georgia. The team can only hope to use this as a springboard for the finale versus Auburn and carry some momentum into the conference tournament.
