Lowry Named Starter vs. Magic
Friday, April 10
Toronto Raptors Media Relations announced that Lowry will start against the Magic on Friday.
Last time he returned to the lineup from the same injury, Lowry left the game versus the Pistons on March 24 after registering five points, three assists and two rebounds in 11 minutes of action. Lowry was diagnosed with back spasms. He had missed the previous two games due to the injury.
TSN 1050's Josh Lewenberg had Lowry's thoughts on re-aggravating the injury after the game:
Lowry suffered a back contusion on March 18 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He scored nine points and dished out six assists in 26 minutes of action before exiting.
Lowry has not played a full 82 games since the 2007-08 season, when he was a member of the Memphis Grizzlies. However, he proved durable during the 2013-14 campaign, lacing it up 79 times for the Raptors.
Lowry's ability to score and set up teammates from the point guard spot helped the Raptors reach the postseason last year for the first time since 2008.
