Will it be enough to punch a ticket to the Big Dance?
It certainly doesn’t hurt.
Things got ugly in the closing minutes of the extra frame when Isaiah Taylor and Royce O’Neale got tangled up near center court hustling for a loose ball.
Taylor caught an unintentional forearm to the face with the two fighting for the ball, leading to a few shoves and multiple players from each team leaving the bench to get involved in the fracus.
Cameron Ridley, Prince Ibeh, Kendal Yancy and Connor Lammert were ejected for leaving the Longhorns’ bench.
Johnathan Motley, Ishmail Wainright and John Heard were ejected for leaving the Baylor bench.
The Bears (22-8, 10-7 Big 12) seemed on their way to an easy victory, dominating on the boards for a 46-30 edge, including 21 on the offensive glass.
But they couldn’t put away a pesky Texas team that started off sluggish but remained in the game with timely plays and hustle in the second half.
Demarcus Holland led the Longhorns with 12 points and four rebounds.
Taurean Prince had 17 points and seven rebounds in a losing effort.
